Scriven Annexe
This project called for an annexe to be constructed in the long garden of a listed stone cottage. There was an non-descript garage on the site which was demolished to build a new, better-proportioned garage, and additional living accommodation behind. The annexe was arranged in a narrow linear configuration to suit the long garden, with steps in the plan and the ridge line to reduce the apparent size of the building. It was further differentiated by using stone for the garage walls and a rustic brick for the living accommodation. The client wanted the roof structure to be expressed internally, and we used over-sized oak rafters and ridge beam to create the desired effect.
