This house was enlarged by three times the size of the original dwelling, which had been converted from a rustic stone cow shed or Mistal many years ago.  After being refused planning permission to build a replacement dwelling, we used a loophole in permitted development legislation to build out 14m from the 'front' of the house.  The design was driven by the limitations imposed by the legislation but its simplicity helps it to blend in with the existing farm buildings.
